Liposuction For Women Atlanta
An essential part of a Mommy Makeover
Liposuction is one of the most common treatments for women. It seems to be discussed daily in the media. It is also discussed among friends. Jokes run rampant regarding getting “liposuction” at large social gatherings or around holiday dinners.
Liposuction is a great way to contour unwanted fat bulges. Common area for women are abdomen, back, chins, lovehandles, arms, legs, saddlebags, and thighs. Some of these areas are genetic gifts from our parents. Even when at your thinnest, these areas persist on many women. These enlarged areas can persist even after diet and exercise.
Liposuction is an integral part of post pregnancy weight gain treatments. Pregnancy is a blessing but the excessive fat and loose skin can be hard to rid. If there is loose skin, then a tummy tuck is necessary. If there is increased fat or plan for additional pregnancies, then abdominal liposuction is an option. This may be in conjunction with other procedures like breast surgery. Liposuction is great for sculpting unwanted bulges.
Sometimes women just need a “head start” in weight loss. Liposuction can be the motivation for continued body improvement. Often, women need that loss of a few inches to initiate motivation. If losing a few inches sounds great… consider a consultation for Liposuction
What are the different techniques for liposuction?
There are several types of liposuction that are being marketed. The traditional tumescent liposuction remains the gold standard method for removal of fat. In this procedure, the fat layer is infiltrated with a solution containing local anesthesia, epinephrine (adrenaline), and IV fluid. This solution numbs the fat and contracts the blood vessels. It allows the surgeon to remove more fat with less risks of bleeding.
Other techniques involve tumescent techniques with additional operating time. Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) has a mechanical handpiece that supplements the motions of the surgeon. Ultrasound Liposuction uses heat to melt fat. Laser Assisted Lipolysis (proprietary names include SmartLipo) is done in an office setting under local anesthesia. Laser Assisted Liposuction is for SMALL volume liposuction only and often requires multiple sessions.
Dr. Jeffords uses traditional tumescent liposuction. This method is extremely safe. Other methods have risks of burning the skin, permanent numbness, and scar tissue.
With traditional tumescent liposuction, you can also use fat to enhance deficit areas like your buttocks, face, or breasts. A Brazilian Buttocks Lift reshapes the hips and abdomen. The suctioned fat is then injected into the buttocks for a fuller, more refined shape. You can also inject your own fat into your face or breast to enhance fullness.
